The York County BBQ Festival will be a three-day BBQ Competition beginning Friday with the SCA events, and continuing Saturday and Sunday.
The competition will be held at Delta-Peach Bottom Community Center in Delta, Pennsylvania.

KCBS Master Series
The KCBS Master Series requires teams to cook 4 meats (Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Butt, & Brisket) judged by KCBS certified judges. Cook’s meeting is Friday night, Meat turn-in and awards are Saturday. As a state championship event, the champion will receive an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship in Lynchburg, TN.
We are also offering the KCBS Master’s competition as a double for Sunday.
KCBS Backyard Barbecue Series
The KCBS Backyard Barbecue Series is intended to promote barbecue in small towns across the country. Backyard teams are required to cook 2 meats (Chicken and Pork Ribs) judged by KCBS certified judges. Cook’s meeting is Friday night, Meat turn-in and awards are Saturday. Backyard teams must meet KCBS guidelines for non-professional teams.
We are also offering the KCBS Backyard competition as a double for Sunday.
SCA Steak
The SCA Steak competition, sanctioned by the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA), requires teams to cook a 1 ⅛” Boneless Choice Ribeye steak, provided by the event promoter. SCA certified judges will score each teams meat entries. As a state sanctioned competition, the champion will receive a golden ticket to the SCA World Championship in Fort Worth, TX.
Cooks’ meeting, meat selection, meat turn-in and awards will all occur Friday.
SCA Ancillaries
The SCA Kids Q competition is an opportunity for kids, 4 to 16 years of age, to take center stage in their very own grilling competition! Kids Q teams will submit 1 meat (Beef Sliders) for judging by SCA certified judges.
The SCA Appetizer Challenge brings the opportunity to show off your best appetizer recipes. Appetizer ingredients are up to you. Turn-in will be on Friday, make sure you bring enough for 6 judges to taste. SCA Judges will evaluate your entry.
People’s Choice
The People’s Choice competition will bring your BBQ skills directly to the public, showing off your Pork Butt results for anonymous judging by Festival Attendees. Festival organizers will provide each team with two pork butts to cook for submission. Meat turn-in and awards will be on Saturday.
Captain of the Sauces
The Captain of the Sauces competition is a free to enter fun contest for any festival attendee. Bring your best recipe to compete for a trophy and bragging rights. Sauce will be judged anonymously by Festival Attendees.
2024 Competition
In this year’s BBQ competition, we will feature SCA sanctioned contests on Friday, 28 June, and a Double KCBS Sanctioned contests on Saturday, 29 June and Sunday 30 June. We also have the People’s Choice and Captain o’ the Sauce competitions on Saturday, 29 June.
Registration
This year we are utilizing the SCA and KCBS websites to handle registrations. So, for the SCA events held Friday, please click on the SCA Registration button. For the Events on Saturday and Sunday, please click on the KCBS Registration button.
If you want to compete in both Friday and Saturday or Sunday events, then you must register in both places.
