BBQ Competition

The York County BBQ Festival will be a three-day BBQ Competition beginning Friday with the SCA events, and continuing Saturday and Sunday.

The competition will be held at Delta-Peach Bottom Community Center in Delta, Pennsylvania.

Professional and Backyard Competitions

York County BBQ Festival has teamed up with the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS), Steak Cookoff Association (SCA), and Mid-Atlantic Barbecue Association (MABA) to celebrate barbecue cooking by gathering professional and backyard teams together for a weekend of friendly competition.

Masters’ Series Competitions

The KCBS Master Series requires teams to cook 4 meats (Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Butt, & Brisket) judged by KCBS certified judges. Cook’s meeting is Friday night, Meat turn-in and awards are Saturday. As a state championship event, the champion will receive an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship in Lynchburg, TN.

Backyard Barbecue Series Competitions

The KCBS Backyard Barbecue Series is intended to promote barbecue in small towns across the country. Backyard teams are required to cook 2 meats (Chicken and Pork Ribs) judged by KCBS certified judges. Cook’s meeting is Friday night, Meat turn-in and awards are Saturday. Backyard teams must meet KCBS guidelines for non-professional teams.

Kid’s Que Competition

The Kids Q competition is an opportunity for kids, 4 to 16 years of age, to take center stage in their very own grilling competition! Kids Q teams will submit 1 Appetizer entry for judging by 6 Certified KCBS judges.

Appetizer Competition

The Appetizer Challenge brings the opportunity to show off your best appetizer recipes.  Appetizer ingredients are up to you.  Turn-in will be on Friday, make sure you bring enough for 6 judges to taste.  KCBS Judges will evaluate your entry.

Dessert Competition

The Dessert Challenge brings the opportunity to show off your best dessert recipes.  Dessert ingredients are up to you.  Turn-in will be on Friday, make sure you bring enough for 6 judges to taste.  KCBS Judges will evaluate your entry.

People’s Choice Wings Competition

The People’s Choice competition will bring your BBQ skills directly to the public, showing off your Chicken Wing results for anonymous judging by Festival Attendees. Festival organizers will provide each team with ten pounds of wings to cook for submission. Meat turn-in and awards will be on Friday.

People’s Choice Pork Competition

The People’s Choice competition will bring your BBQ skills directly to the public, showing off your Pork Butt results for anonymous judging by Festival Attendees. Festival organizers will provide each team with two pork butts to cook for submission. Meat turn-in and awards will be on Saturday.

Captain O’ Sauce Competition

The Captain of the Sauces competition is a free to enter fun contest for any festival attendee. Bring your best recipe to compete for a trophy and bragging rights. Sauce will be judged anonymously by Festival Attendees on Saturday during the People’s Choice Pork competition.


2026 Competition

The 2026 York County BBQ Festival will be held on 12, 13, 14 June.

New for 2026 we are adding a People’s Choice Wings competition to Friday night’s festivities. Also new for 2026 is a Dessert competition. That will also be held on Friday along with our Appetizer, and Kid’s Que competitions.

Returning this year will be the KCBS Double which give our chefs two opportunities to qualify for the National Championship. The Double will feature Masters’ and Backyard competitions on both Saturday and Sunday, 13 &14 June.

Also the People’s Choice Pork competition and Captain O’ Sauce competitions will be back again this year for Saturday.
